We steered this scheme of 29 new flats for rent and shared ownership through the planning process. We wanted to get as many flats as possible into the space without building too high, to stay in sympathy with the conservation area directly opposite. Through doing our homework about the local area, consulting both the planning authority and the amenity society, and taking their comments seriously, we managed to negotiate a design that satisfies all sides. It makes the building look lower than it actually is, due to the stepped back top storey.
